On the seashore of 17-mile Drive of Pebble Beach in California , I saw many harbor seals swimming in the sea and lying on rock leisurely. This kind of social animal living in groups makes me think of the history of Chinese treasure seekers in the 19TH century California Gold Rush. Chinese with strong racial tie stayed living together and formed Chinese community. After several generations, mixed marriage becomes more popular. This painting is about the imagination of Chinese seals searching for their love.
